Bed Bug Biology and Inspection

As you know, adult bedbugs have flattened, broad, oval bodies, about 4-5 mm long. They are reddish-brown in colour, wingless, with four segmented antennae. As bedbugs feed on blood from birds and mammals their bodies enlarge and turn red. Although bedbugs have not been shown to transmit disease, their bite can be painful. In addition, the psychological effects of bedbugs are disturbing to most people, some even suffering significant trauma for months following an outbreak. Bedbugs also emit a disagreeable odour. The bedroom is usually the center of infestation. All dark cracks and crevices are potential harbourage areas. If a bed bug infestation is suspected, the following areas should be inspected:

1. Bed creases, crevices and seams
2. Bed frame joints and areas where steel rods join any wooden portions of the structure
3. Curtain folds
4. Any chesterfields or chairs in the bedroom
5. Pictures

How We Control Bed Bug

• Technician will start by checking the mattress, box springs, bed fame joints and steel rods join any wooden portion to find the infestation level 
• Technician may set up and implement a program by using IPM Techniques such as mechanical treatment, direct killing, liquid sprays, dust and targeted heat where deemed necessary.
• Extreme caution and safety is exercised when implementing control measures.
• Technician may recommend disposal of mattress & box spring or purchase of bed bug encasements
• All treatments will be made with your safety in mind to ensure your health 
• A follow up inspection treatment (if required) will be done after 2 to 3 weeks
  
• The follow up is to make sure newly hatched insects are exposed to treatment
